Cottleville, Missouri is a suburb or St. Louis and is located in St. Charles County. It is a family-friendly surburban community with quiet streets, excellent schools and low crime rates. The city had its start back in 1798 with a Mexican land grant to one Captain Warren G. Cottle. There has been a few houses in the area since about 1800. Cottle himself settled on the land and farmed it as well as practicing medicine when needed. Slowly families arrived and settled and farmed the land. In 1811, Warren Cottle passed away and his lands were divided among his numerous children. In 1839, one of those children, Lorenzo Cottle,  divided his lands into parcels and planned a town naming after his father. David K. Pitman, was another figure in the towns early history and in the 1850s and 60s Pitman laid out two subdivisions and the town continued to grow. Today, the community is a thriving city full of comforts and conveniences.

The city spans 4.46 square miles of land area. In 2000,  the population was 1,928 and the population density was 493.7. In the same year the median household income was $74,200, the median family income was $78,017 and the per capita income was 26,729. In 2014 the population was 3,877. By 2015, the estimated median household income was $93,395 and the estimated per capita income was $38,486. In the same year, the estimated median house or condo value in Cottleville was $260,725, the mean price on all housing units was $216,474 and the median gross rent was $1,550. These figures show steady growth both in terms of population and the local economy revealing a community that is thriving and growing.

Two school districts serve Cottleville, Fort Zumwalt School District and the Francis Howell School District. Public schools in the community include Francis Howell Central High School, Louis C Seager Middle School and Warren Elementary School. It is also home to a wonderful private school for children in kindergarten through eighth grade,  St. Joseph Catholic school.  The community has more than 125 acres of park lands and nearly 40 acres of lakes.
